ECM is World’s Best as GM Pays Tribute to Suppliers

It’s a hat trick of Global Supplier Awards for ECM as General Motors Corporation, one of the world’s largest auto manufacturers, paid tribute to its best suppliers.

For the third time in four years Carlisle based auto logistics firm, ECM (Vehicle Delivery Service) Ltd, were selected by General Motors Corporation for one of their prestigious Global Supplier of the Year Awards.

General Motors which employs over 200,000 people in every major region of the world and does business in more than 120 countries, selected ECM from its global supplier base of c23,000 component, engineering and service suppliers to win one of the 82 coveted awards which were presented to the winners at a celebration held in the GM World Headquarters in Detroit Michigan on March 10th.

The prestigious event was attended by GM senior leaders , including Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dan Akerson, who commended the GM Global Award winners for their innovative technology, superior quality, outstanding launch support and competitive total enterprise cost solutions.

ECM which operates a fleet of 380 car transporters and carries out in the region of 1million car transport movements p.a. delivers around 300,000 cars each year for GM under the brands of Vauxhall, Opel and Chevrolet. The company was singled out by GM for its dedication and commitment to consistently perform above expectations.

Commenting on its achievements, ECM Managing Director, Ray Mac Dowall, said, “within our specialism of auto logistics, the ECM brand has become synonymous with quality and performance. It makes me very proud to be heading a UK business that is recognised as a world leader in its class. This award bears testament to the dedication and hard work of all our loyal staff, drivers and technicians, who have made this achievement possible”.
